California Dreamin'
Last week was spring break here in Waco, which meant I didn't teach and Eleanor's school was closed. So we decided to take a little trip to the bay area! Neither Adam nor I had ever been to San Francisco before, and it was definitely time for a little vacation. Even though they may not remember this trip but through photos, I love showing Eleanor -- and now Edison! -- new places.
Day 1:
Brunch with our friends in Berkeley
Oakland Zoo
The view from the top.
The gibbons were showing off for us!
Life is a balancing act, part I.
Day 2:
San Francisco proper
Pier 39 sea lions
Boat ride in the bay
Alcatraz
Ghirardelli Square
Golden Gate
Several hundred sea lions reside at Pier 39. They moved in after the 1989 earthquake and have stayed ever since. Eleanor liked to hear them barking.
Life is a balancing act, part II.
The boat ride to Alcatraz was a highlight.
We could see both Golden Gate and Alcatraz from the boat.
Touring the island.
Views of the city from Alcatraz. See how steep the streets are cutting through the city like rivers? Wow.
On the never-ending quest for the perfect family photo.
The most beautiful bridge.
There was a little girl who was very, very excited about her ice cream sundae from Ghirardelli's.
And a little boy who was super excited about life. Always. No ice cream needed.
After her ice cream, she danced and danced and danced around this fountain. She's got the moves, let me tell you. There were even some break-dancing-hands-on-the-ground-foot-in-the-air moves.
It. was. awesome.
Spending time as friends...
...with our friends. They were amazing hosts.
Day 3:
Sonoma
A chocolate shop
A winery
The little park in downtown Sonoma was picture perfect.
Great trip. Great friends. Great time.
The end.
