Happy Easter; He is Risen!!

Funny...this is the first year that I have not hunted eggs. I fondly remembered all the Easters before when I hunted eggs with Papa and Sharron, David and Roxanne, Ashley and Chris, Mom and Milt, etc. I missed spending time with all of you today!

Adam is on call, working in the ICU today. So after church this morning I went over to our friend's home to have lunch with them- the same sweet family that welcomed Adam and I on Thanksgiving last year. They have a 3 year old who hunted eggs after lunch, but I didn't join in....if I had to guess most people would frown on a 26 year old trying to out-hunt a toddler.

And thank you to Mom (and Milt) for this wonderful Easter basket that arrived in the mail this week! I think Jake knew it might contain something for him from his grandma.

It contained flower bulbs, gardening tools, a gift card for flowers when it warms up, candy, a card, and...

....a stuffed duck, of course!

If you know our dog, you know how much he loves his toys. And oh how he loves his new duck!

After a day of playing with his new toy, he retired to the window, his new favorite spot to watch the roofers across the street.

AGAIN??!

It's snowing. AGAIN. This is what greeted us outside this morning:

Jake is confused. As am I. After all, it's April. The month of Easter, spring, and sunshine. I might have been excited about the snow in December...but not April.

I am also worried about my plants. I hadn't started any gardening yet, per the excellent advice of my neighbors who told me back in March that we would definitely get more snow and not to waste money on plants that would just freeze before Memorial Day. But these started coming up in a front bed and I was so excited to see what they were. (Grandma, do you think they are tulips? See the purple stripe I was talking about? I've never seen a tulip with that stripe before so I wasn't sure.)

Also, on a side note, several weeks ago we had visitors! PaPa and Sharron were in the area and stopped by for the weekend. I am so thankful for the beautiful weather (no snow!) we had while they were in town so we were able to travel around the state. This is one of my favorite pictures...I wish my dog wasn't so shy. :)

Adam stayed in this white building on the right side of the picture. He climbed the volcano in the background with some other members of his team.

These were the interns that climbed the volcano. Adam is on the far left.

They got close enough to the lava that the bottom of their shoes melted. Adam picked up a rock and had to juggle it all the way down the mountain because it was so hot. As you can see, everything was red-hot!

This was a local marketplace. Adam brought me some jade earrings, a beautiful woven tablerunner, and a ceramic duck planter. :)

Doctors coming to set up the clinic and locals lining up to see the docs.

This was one of the temporary clinics they set up. The examining "rooms" are behind those blue tarps. Internal medicine needed more help than surgery, so Adam ended up seeing more patients in this setting than doing surgeries.

On the last day, Adam got his hair braided by this cute little lady. He joked with his friend that he wondered how long it would take me to notice even though the braids were under a hat. He thought he could hide them for a couple of hours at least. I noticed in about 15 seconds. Literally. Before his luggage was even in the car. :) Thankfully he took them out on the way home...he just wanted me to see them.
