34:44
~
I ran the 5k (3.1 miles) in the Cowtown Marathon on Saturday! Although this was not my first race, I feel most proud of this one. I trained and I feel more in shape than I have in a long time. I wanted to run it in less than 30 minutes, but I am happy with my 34:44 time. I was actually 75th in my age group! Considering there were almost 12,000 runners at the event, that's just fine by me.

One of my favorite moments was the minute between when the race started and I crossed the starting line. There was a huge mob of people up ahead of me crowding the starting line, and when the race began all of the heads began bobbing up and down at the front of the mob, slowly moving back towards me as the mob began to run. It was so neat to see.

I have to say that I really enjoy running. About half way through the race I looked around at the streets of downtown Fort Worth and just smiled. It remined me of a line from You've Got Mail...I hear not a sound of the city streets, just the beat of my own heart.
